Voices From History: East London Suffragettes

Picture
Voices From History: East London Suffragettes commemorates an extraordinary time in East London’s history and a courageous and creative group of forgotten East End rebels.

Sarah Jackson worked with historian Rosemary Taylor to bring her research on the remarkable East London Federation of the Suffragettes to a new audience. Their book was published by The History Press in 2014.

You can read a few preview chapters here on Google Books and get the whole book from one of these London stockists: Newham Bookshop, Brick Lane Bookshop, Housmans Bookshop, Waterstones Walthamstow, Waterstones Gower Street, WHSmiths Westfield Stratford, Foyles Central, and others.

It's also available online from Wordery and Amazon.

“Voices from History is a thoroughly enjoyable read about a fascinating period of radicalism in the history of the East End of London.”
- Turbulent London
“This is a fascinating, well-researched and well-written book which shows how the suffragette movement fits into the wider world of immigration, and how that fitted into the trade union movement and rise of the labour movement.” - Amazon
